A research-based tool for estimating normal cardiac MRI values based on age, sex, and body size.
Developed by Dr. Hunain Shiwani at UCL and Barts Heart Centre
Last Update: 10th April 2025
This tool provides demographic-adjusted reference values for cardiac MRI values based on age, sex, and body size (BSA) for cardiac MRI. It generates reference values for end diastolic volume (EDV), end systolic volume (ESV), stroke volume (SV), ejection fraction (EF), and left ventricular mass (LVM) to help contextualize MRI values in relation to established reference data.
🛑 This tool is for informational and research purposes only. It is not a diagnostic device and should not be used to make clinical decisions without expert evaluation.
EDV (End Diastolic Volume): The volume of blood in the left ventricle at the end of diastole.
ESV (End Systolic Volume): The volume of blood in the left ventricle at the end of systole.
SV (Stroke Volume): The volume of blood ejected from the left ventricle with each heartbeat (EDV - ESV).
EF (Ejection Fraction): The percentage of blood ejected from the left ventricle with each heartbeat ((SV/EDV) × 100).
LV Mass: The mass of the left ventricular myocardium, calculated from myocardial volume × specific gravity of myocardium.
